We were tasked with creating a team building challenge / dinner event for the international executives of Amer Sports (parent company of Arc'teryx). They were looking for an authentic Canadian experience, had a few 'outside the box' ideas, wanted to push the comfort level of their team, and weren’t afraid to get dirty hands. Corinne spent several summers tree planting in her youth and always planned the company year end bush party. After a great exploratory meeting, we sketched out a team building experience encompassing many of the ideas from a classic treeplanter party. The Great Canadian Cabin Party Team Building Challenge was born. After spending a few days in conference rooms in Whistler, Amer executives were bussed to a remote cabin where they were tasked with setting up their party using interesting but limited supplies. A pit fire, snowbank full of beer, whole salmon on ice, and live crabs greeted the group as they arrived. Teams were organized, and the hard, yet fun, and super focused work began. A fantastic dinner was created utilizing a wood stove and open fire without any recipes. The cabin was thoroughly decorated with old Christmas lights, candles, and fabric. The talent show was fall over hilarious followed by a crazy carpet relay race that topped off an evening to remember. Surprising skills and talents revealed themselves. The clients objectives were to pull a group of their core executives outside of their comfort zone, shake things up, and come out a stronger, more comfortable team than when they went in. Mission accomplished in true Canadian 'hoser' style. BIG THANKS! Everyone totally enjoyed themselves and all of them thanked me for everything again and again. It’s definitely going down in the history books for sure!!! Believe me, I’m calling you guys first next time. - Tammy Hampson, Manager Tradeshows & Events, Arc'teryx More photos The organizing committee for the Prince of Wales Secondary School Prom put together a solid awards banquet and party at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This a great venue both technically (think load-in/load-out, access to power, professional staff) and esthetically (gorgeous design and what more can be said of an unobstructed view across the harbour that is framed in by the North Shore mountains, other than stunning!). We helped the organizing committee dial in the details, reviewed the event outline, and designed and installed decor that would compliment an already beautiful space while customizing the look to suit the style and values of their prom. An entrance was created through the use of under lit acrylic plynths and tall, dramatic, feather filled vases. Table decor centred around tall martini glass centrepieces that featured internal led lighting & peacock feathers. Ambient lighting in ambers and pinks warmed up the space while allowing us to turn off all overhead lighting and ensure a nice intimate environment. “On behalf of the organizing team of Prince of Wales Prom 2011, and the 2011 Graduating Class of Prince of Wales Secondary School, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for your part in making our event a resounding success. “We have heard nothing but positive feedback on our decorations and the overall atmosphere of the event, and we have ReFresh events to thank for such a memorable piece in our graduation experience. Your expertise and eye for design truly made for an amazing event, and we appreciate your help and support throughout the organizational process. “Thank you again for your great work, and we look forward to working with you in the future”. - Prince of Wales Prom organizing committee More photosThe Fraserview Community Hall provided a very clean, blank template in which to create a wonderful reception space for Melissa & Corey. These were the hot days of summer, so a cool & refreshing, yet classy atmosphere was the choice. Traditional white with a fuchsia pink and chocolate brown colour injection created a modern look with great accents and pop. "Corey and I want to thank you both for such an amazing job. The decor was stunning! We could never have done that without you, so thank you both!" - Melissa More photosThe BC Derby is one of the biggest events at Hastings Racecourse and reFresh Events was contracted to design and install decor and event materials for a Gala reception, indoor VIP viewing area, and outdoor spaces. "THANK YOU for making this event so unbelievably classy. I am really pleased with the work you, Corinne, and your team did – I have never been so relaxed with an outside company before. You have been incredibly professional and reliable; there is no doubt that I will be using you again." - Kelly Grant, Marketing Manager, Hastings Racecourse More photosWe helped plan a family reunion for 120 at the Deep Cove Yacht Club in North Vancouver. Here's a testimonial from a pleased client. "Corinne, it was truly a memorable experience, but the main reason it worked was under your very experienced and professional guidance. It couldn't have worked without you. Thanks so much." - Ann Sears
